Experience. Your heels click on the marble steps as you approach the floor to ceiling windows that line the outside of this Parisian inspired cafe. The glass door swings open and you are immediately greeted with a colourful array of brightly coloured macaroons and delectable French pastries. As you walk along the black granite hallway to the cashier, chandeliers of intricate black iron foliage and bright candles illuminate the victorian paintings and silver-framed mirrors that decorate the walls. Your order is taken by a Parisian barista, after which you can watch your latte art unfold as you stand near the glass cases to receive your drink.

Placing your drink on one of the many white granite coffee tables, you take a seat in your bronze backed, black leather cushioned stool. You take your first sip and appreciate the perfectly crafted beverage whilst a low hum of candid conversations serenades you. Three fabulously dressed 75 year old women are sharing a pastry and gossip in French, two business partners are discussing the statistics of their morning meeting in crisp English, and a group of young Asian women decked in Valentino and Chanel are chatting excitedly in Chinese; this is what you can expect of a café located within feet of a luxury hotel. You open your laptop and immerse yourself in the energy of culture and luxury – Faubourg is the place you come when you want to feel inspired to create and share ideas.

Perfect for. Sipping an Americano & Creative Work

Location Vibe.  Given that Faubourg is close to the luxurious Fairmont hotel in the heart of Vancouver’s financial district, you can expect a diversity of culture, age, and career status.

Best places to sit. Central high top table or far right corner low top table.

Best time to go.  If you plan to focus on work, weekdays are relatively quiet between 10:00-1130 and between 14:30 – 16:30. Otherwise, anytime is great for an afternoon coffee date with a girlfriend.

NOTE: Avoid the early morning work rush and noon lunch rush. Weekends are extremely busy – but I have yet to order a drink and not be able to find a seat somewhere.

TIP I love the Faubourg to-go cups,
the beautiful pattern and fancy logo are
IG worthy.

Ambiance. Parisian chic

My vibe. Heels and a blazer. This Vancouver cafe makes you feel as though Parisian fashion is the standard.

My order. Black Americano or an almond milk London Fog.

Glasswear.
● espresso drinks – simple white ceramic with a delicate Faubourg logo.
● tea – dainty white cup with a beautiful teapot on a bronze serving dish.

Specifics
● WiFi (no, but you can easily use Caffe Artigiano’s)
● Terrasse (summer only)
● Heel friendly (you won’t be the only in the pair of Rockstuds)

TIP
The baristas here are incredibly friendly and are often inclined
to have an candid conversation with you
as they craft your beverage.
More than once my favourite barista has come over to my table
to drop off some tasty sweets or an inspired latte
– free of charge of course.
Be friendly, baristas are not used to this
and will often reward you with overwhelming kindness in return.
